About Me

I am Sujith Vaidyan a lifestyle, Cooking & Travel Vlogger from Kerala having plenty of experience in Tour Operation, cooking, cricket coaching, Marathon training and more. I was born as the 9th generation into a family which prides in 300 years of Christian tradition, I hail from a village called Thevalakkara, near Karunagappally, Kollam. The place was originally called “Devalakkara’, as the place had many Brahmin families which performed poojas. The village, later, came to be known as Thevalakkara. 2019 Aug 31st I married Mrs. Neeraja S and we have baby girl named Draupadi S Vaidyan.

Out of the many Brahmin ‘Matoms’, some were well known for the good will they enjoyed in the locality. Like the Thazemangalathu Matom, Perumbilly Matom, Edappally Matom, Puthussery Matom, and Kallinaan Matom. Of these, in the Thazemangalathu Matom, there lived a person called Kesavan Namboothiri, in the mid of the 17th Century. He was the head of the family. His eldest son, Krishnan Namboothiri was married to Lakshmi Antharjanam, who hailed from Kothamangalam. One day, while on his way to his wife’s house, Krishnan Namboothiri happened to embark and take rest for some time near a ‘vallakkadavu’ or a boat jetty, near present day’s Kottayam town. There, he happened to witness the prayer and gospels of Syrian Christians. With his faith deeply rooted in the religion, later accompanied by his wife, he returned to the place and got converted into Christianity at the Old Syrian Church in Kottayam. He was baptized as Thomman, and his wife Lakshmi got baptized as Mariam.

I was born as the 9th generation descendant of the family.

Years later, a wandering Sanyasin Guru, from the Virata lineage, came to Thommi’s village and paid a visit to his house. Pleased with the warm welcome, respect and love of the hosts, he continued to stay at Thommi’s house and taught him some unique treatment methods, which was based on Ayurveda.

On the Sanyasin Guru’s passing away, the family performed his final rites as per the Hindu rituals.

As days passed, Thommi’s prowess in treating diseases began spreading far and wide. Once the then ruler of the Travencore dynasty, Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma’s mother fell ill with a serious disease of the eyes. As most of the treatments failed to bring about a cure, the king was in search for someone who would cure her disease. That is when the person who was managing the affairs of the king, referred Thommi’s name to him. He was invited to the palace and through his treatment, the king’s mother was cured. Pleased, the king conferred upon him the status of ‘Vaidyan’ and offered him many valuables as remuneration. The king also ordered that the family members are entitled to use the title of Vaidyan in future also.

My father K.M. Mathew Vaidyan (Sabu) is the son of K.O. Mathew Vaidyan and Mariamma Vaidyan, who belong to the Thayyil Karippod branch of the Thevalakkara Vaidyan family. My mother, Annamma hails from Kattanam Magavil family. I hold degrees in Co-operative Law, and diploma in Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism. My passions include Cricket, cooking and travel. I am an all-rounder, left-hand middle order batsman and right arm seam bowler. I am acclaimed chef and my specialties include in experimenting with new dishes. Presently I am helming Bon Voyage International, a travel and tourism service provider.

Born into a family of rich Christian heritage with a Hindu lineage, Hindu ethos and dharma is genetically passed on to me from my great ancestor Krishnan Namboothiri. This, along with my deep love for my country, turned me a patriot and a true blooded Indian.

Myself a lifestyle, Cooking & Travel Vlogger from Kerala having plenty of experience in Tour Operation king, cricket coaching, Marathon training and more. Sujith Vaidyan
